Protect your Skin from the Sun

For some, putting on sunscreen is a routine activity because it protects our skin against sunburn / skin cancer however, there is some evidence that sunscreen use can contribute to negative health outcomes.

They say that some sunscreen contain ingredients such as (oxybenzone, benzophenone, octocrylene, octyl methoxycinnamate, diisopropyl adipate, retinoic acid, and retinyl palmitate) can absorb into the blood, and some have toxic effects.

Because the sun is ridiculously harsh in Australia, I use to loathe putting sunscreen every morning and would make up any excuse not to do so. My old sunscreen had a tendency to make my face white like a geisha, ruin my appetite due to the strong fragrant creamy smell and give me pimples due to the excess oil clogging my pores.

FoodieGuru has done an extensive heartcheck on all the brands and types of sunscreen but highly recommends Biore UV Aqua Rich, it is water / AQUA based and has a very nice watery consistency and smell and an astounding protection of 50+ SPF PA+++. Biore is a Japanese Skincare brand and although there are many types of sunscreens sold by this brand, the Biore UV Aqua Rich is the best choice!

  1. So good to know .. thank you 🙂
It seems we can’t get Biore via Amazon in NZ. And it is not currently available on the websites I looked at here!
In the meantime, please can I ask what Foodie guru feels about 2 local natural sunscreens produced by Ephraim and Viola Organics?
    Thank you 🙂

    1. Hi Jane, we did a heart check and the ephraim and viola organics are below average, although we want to remind everyone that each product and chemicals may react differently to different skin, so the heart check was if the ephraim and viola was suitable to you 🙂 good luck

  2. Thanks Foodieguru. Very grateful for the information. Actually had the chance to physically use one of them on holiday by the beach.. And it wasn’t very effective… Ouch!

    1. Hi Melky, we check that this sunscreen is quiet good also 🙂
But remember with skin products, different individuals will react differently / have allergies so always test it our first!
